So we’re moving through fall at breakneack speed and heading towards winter. What does that mean? You need you some shoes. School shoes, work shoes, dating shoes, exercise shoes, hanging out shoes- whatever. Get you some shoes; because you need them. Or something.
Some people will rock flats until the snow lies thick on the ground. 1. Melissa does flats like no one else, from ankle strap styles to the bow on the toe classics. Check out their collab with the Kaiser himself. 2. These artsy Delta canvas laceups are adorable. With some cute socks or tights, these would look great. they’re from Bucketfeet. 3. these are just the cutest- leather ballet flats from Banana Republic to add a ladylike kick to jeans or skirts.
Menswear inspired oxfords and monks that make you look super feminine. 1. This silver pair are by Barbara Bui– I saw them at Intermix. 2. My black leather oxfords are from Beautifeel– note, take your laces out for a lazy boho look. 3. I love these single strap wingtip monks from Duo.
1. The menswear inspired Aristocrat wingtip style from Aerosoles– just enough lift, looks great with tights. 2. A complete flight of fancy in this leopardprint, scarlet-heeled mary jane from Yves Saint Laurent. Imagine wearing all winter white and then… bam! Shoes like exclamation points. You can get these from Barneys, the shoe mecca.
I don’t even like sneakers? But these changed my mind. 1. I love this camo print pair from Kevin Durant– and I just adore them. I see wearing this with a cool pleated skirt like, yeah- these are my sneakers, and they have Easter Bunnies on them. 2. I like the yellow tab on the ankle and the yellow heel. They’re the Air Jordan Flight Time 14.5. Whatever- I just like those two things. I would wear them- but only with dresses. 3. These sneakers are called ‘No Mercy 2014‘ which is funny. I LOVE the colors. This looks lightweight, spring, stylish, and fashion forward.
5. Sneaker Boots:
These are rugged enough to face snow and rain. Sneaker construction with boot-like toughness. 1. Supra has teamed with The Hunger Games to create this District 13 Vaider . Be a rebel, with durable shoes made out of water resistant and easy to clean SUPRATUF, which is made using genuine suede. 2. Palladium Boots Baggy Leather shoes have the same high-top construction as a premium sneaker- but looks like a boot. Nice, right?
6. Duck Boots:
Those in the know are hip to the possibilities of the duck boot, which turn city dwellers into hyper-cool dry footed comfort monsters. the design imitates the ducks wide, waterproof feet. It’s best to go with the classic companies on this. 1. Sperry Topsider has been turning out duckboots since 1895. So not only are these Saltwater Duck Boots with quilted detailing, rawhide laces, and micro-fleece lining stylish- but they are guaranteed to last you fahevah. 2 & 3 are from my fave outdoorsy company, LL Bean. These are my tumbled leather shearling lined Lounger Boots. You can wear them like UGGS, just slip them right on. They are super warm, and waterproof- even when you step in puddles, as I like to do sometimes. if I got another pair, it would be these Bar Harbor All Weather Boots, which even has a removable fleece liner for those arctic days.
7. Ankle Boots:
I love a great ankle boot, I can’t lie. 1. I saw these at DSW, who seem to specialize in crazy Western Boots for the ladies. 2. I like the sleek, simple detailing in these Ruff Hewn Dunham Short Buckle Booties. they’re just edgy enough, but safe for work. 3. These Paula motorcycle boots from Cat Footwear are the business. Pair with leggings, tshirt, and plaid flannel shirt for that 90s slacker look.
8. Work Boots:
You don’t neccesarily need to be employed as a steel worker or anything to wear these work boots, just look like you are. 1. The Dakota workboot from Frye has a worn in, worked in look, perfect for posing at a hipster bar. 2. These Colorado boots have a punk rock insouciance. The Houndawg Dot would be cute with some leather overalls and a henley- just to confuse everyone. Downhome, but dangerous. 3. This is a workboot taken to an extreme. The metallic, fishscale looking finish of the Dr. Marten Pascale boots means you either keep your otfit super minimal, or you just go crazy. Don’t be stuck in the middle.
9. Combat Boots:
1.The first shoes I bought in New York 5 years ago- the Steve Madden Troopas. I saw some other girl wearing them and made a beeline to the nearest shoe store. I had them for 3 years. 2. I love these badass Rogan studded laceups from Frye. So perfectly worn in, like you’ve had them forever. 3. These Irenea shooties from Cat Footwear have zips on each side and a the folds on the upper are relaxed chic. An easy style to wear with tights. Pile on colorful socks or legwarmers in contrasting colors for fun.
10. Riding Boots:
I just put in all my favorites on this one, sorry! 1. I bought these Bernardo boots through a Nordstrom sale online. I liked the deep chocolate leather and the western detailing. I still have them, softest leather ever. 2. DSW again! They have so many pairs of gorgeous Riding Boot styles available, at great prices. including 3. My Corinne boots from Cat Footwear. I love them. They’re warm and comfortable, great for walking and I get loads of compliments on them. This style is great with midi skirts, actually. For Cat Footwear’s updated Corinne’s for aw2014 click here.
