Weekly Photo Challenge: Admiration

IMG_20160429_093716

This morning I went over to water Pansy, a seedling that I got a year ago, and she had put forth her first bud. Yesterday I had hovered over her with the mister and asked why no flowers. I know it’s weird, but this morning…there it was. Either I hadn’t looked properly or Pansy had actually heard me.

I admire Pansy’s slow road to maturity. Its been a year since she arrived in a cardboard planter. I had gone to a Summer Streets (all alone…that was the month of my failed meetup group) and the New York Botanical Garden was giving away plants. See how tiny she was? I looked up how to take care of her and made sure she had a nice bright window to live in front of. A year later, after lots of water, buying soil and repotting her, turning her, and talking to her a little bud shoots p and I’m ecstatic.

I admire Pansy, and I admire myself for taking care of her.

After this week’s round up, you will know how to do everything plus pack for a European vacation at home. OK, maybe not everything, but that’s what it seemed like.

IFB Bloggers were very generous with their advice, tips, and lessons this week. There were posts on the business of blogging. Examples of interviews and photography. Advice on developing your fashion empire from the beginning and on to sustaining it, with a special tip on friendzoning a photographer. Tips on clearing clutter, letting go, and reasons to wear vintage. All topped off with a lesson on shirt tucking; To tuck or not to tuck! Trends this week seemed to stem from the 1990’s even if that wasn’t their direct intention–ripped white jeans, iron on patches, young designer inspiration. And when in doubt, buy nude.

Thanks to the creative advice of Abroad Outlook on vacationing to France from the comfort of your own town, my family will be “traveling” to three countries this Summer. If you can’t go big, go home.

Review: Annemarie Borlind Purifying Care Cleansing Mask #skincare

IMG_20160331_230846

Back before Christmas, the nice people at Annemarie Borlind Natural Beauty sent over a box of products for me to review. Things got kind of backed up, but when I recently ran out of a particular skin clearing mask I ransacked the house in a panic and found this. I’ve been using it for the past three weeks.  If you’ve been following this blog for awhile, then you know that skincare is my passion.

This particular product is meant to help you achieve an even complexion. You use it once or twice a week to help prevent blemishes. Apply to freshly cleansed dry skin and leave it on for 5-10 minutes. Simple and clean.  When I spoke to the Annemarie Borlind rep about getting samples, she questioned me about my skin and recommended this product specifically for me.

I started using this at the beginning of April because I started seeing blackheads and blemishes. Since I was out of my usual clearing mask, I thought it was a good time to switch it up and try something new. I picked Wednesdays as my target day to use the mask and stuck to a once a week schedule. I will admit to using in the bath, so it was on for longer than 10 minutes. The first time I used it, I at first saw no difference, but the next day saw an improvement. The second day out from my first use the blackheads were gone. Three weeks later I see smooth skin, smooth and soft looking. I love it.  It’s a definite thumbs up.

The Annemarie Borlind Purifying Care Cleansing Mask retails for $32.99.
