Newsbreak: Completely Bare opens a pop-up chock full of luxe lingerie and more… #ValentinesDay

invite I though the email box had no more surprises, but lo! here is the best one. I got an invitation to the Completely Bare Market, a pop-up shop on the ultra-cool Bowery right here in NYC. They basically dangled the chance to meet a whole slew of lingerie (and other… you’ll see) brands, drink bubbly wine, and eat aphrodisiac treats from Gardein. What’s not to like?

In hot pursuit of food, I wandered to the back of the store and got distracted by the shiny jewelry on the Shop Totem table. Pretty! I was shown the python skin wallet ($220) that transforms into a crossbody with a Chanel-esqe chain strap. Sparkling necklaces and earrings handmade right here in New York. They also offered these cool unisex Taki watches ($109) from Japan in hot color combos that will complement any look. the great thing is that ShopTotem offers products that sized for petite wrists and fingers, so here’s where you find your gift for that hard to size tiny Valentine.popup8

I went past the Emily & Tony table (which was chock full of everything you need to uh, knock boots as they say, on V-Day) and headed for the food. As more gardein meatless chicken tenders cooked, I was filled in on the romantic finger food they were serving up. The delicious fingerfood (well, it was on a skewer) was Mandarin Crispy Chick’n nuggetssauteed and then topped with aromatic basil, thinly sliced cucumber, and roasted almond which is the hit of natural aphrodisiac you needto make good use of these lacey Cosabella underthings.

Just as the bubbly started circulating I turned and met Erica Young, the founder and creator of EricaMNYC, purveyor of super sexy patterned stockings and sexy bodysuits ($55.00 – $120.00). Not only does this adorable California transplant supply Beyonce with lingerie, she cheerfully showed me that the Naomi bodysuit works really well as a really cute alternative to long johns. popup9

I loved the antique rose pattern on Alexis Mera’s pocket tee ($88) and matching boxers shorts ($72) and we spent a few minutes chatting about her made in Brooklyn based and American made digitally printed loungewear.

Then? It was off to the My Secret Luxury table. Actually, I got fascinated by the Tenga 3D Masturbation Sleeve ($44)  that you use to um, facilitate hand manipulation of some uh man parts. Just… go down there and let them lube it up and then stick your finger in it. You and whoever you do stuff like that with will thank me. That pink thing ($159)? Is a vibrator that both people use- take the middle photo as a suggestion.popup5

This is one of those ideas where you’re like- why has no one done this? The Bumbrella is a cute little skirt attached to a pair of panties! Instead of squeezing yourself into restrictive shapewear (which can actually cause health problems, ok?) you can It’s a half-slip that slims you down and smooths out the little bumps we all have, making it easier to shimmy into those sheer skirts and dresses for the upcoming summer season. The Bumbrella is going to be available 3/3/2015 and you can preorder the $48 items right here. I definitely want one.

I met Maggie, who created her line of bridal lingerie in Chicago but moved to new York to access the rich manufacturing traditions of our garment trade. Inspired by vintage pieces, Maggie created The Giving Bride as a brand that satisfies the craving for lace and silk, but also helps to support women’s charites. I loved this ivory kimono trimmed with silver grey lace, and her white mesh panties with sweet blue bow can help you work that innocently look with conviction.

I have to say, this lady blew me away. She opened her mouth and this amazing British accent came out AND she had this sparkly personality that had me laughing uproariously. It was like being on a BBC sitcom, but with lingerie…oh wait…

her line is called Harlow & Fox and it is sumptuous. Leanna told me that she wanted to create a line for women with larger cup sizes and hard to find sizes. I fell head over heels for the Augusta Scarlet collection– deep red silk and black fringe and do you see those knickers (British for panties) she’s holding? they have a keyhole cutout adorned with a tassel in the back. Oh yes. And you HAVE to see the fringed suspender belt.

This is what you need to get your Downton on, if you know what I mean.

Right across from Harlow & Fox was Leanna’s friend Angela. What does Angela do? She only creates amazing corsets and lingerie under the name Angela Friedman.  Words cannot describe- but I’ll try. Picture one- the most amazingly constructed set of mesh lingerie ever. EVER. Angela actually created costumes for the New York City ballet from 2009 to 2012. I repeat- she created costumes for ballerinas.

The Completely Bare market is open for a full day of shopping Saturday 10am – 8pm, wrapping up Sunday 10am – 6pm. Shoppers are privy to complimentary bubbly Friday evening or, rise and shine: early risers will also be able to enjoy complimentary mimosas from 10am – 12pm on Sunday. As a further bonus: leading sustainable protein brand gardein will be serving up a few frisky foods Saturday night , teaching shoppers how to seduce their palate with their own aphrodisiac-inspired hors d’oeuvres. Yum!

Coming soon- The Sassy Valentine’s Day Gift Guide (you know how I roll).
