in which i go to the Kensie showroom for an ss2015 sneakpeek

Last week I got a sweet invitation- I was asked to saunter over to the Kensie showroom to preview what would be on the racks for this spring and summer! needless to say, I was there like a shot.

Showroom assistant Vittoria Ledonne was nice enough to tour me through the extensive offerings and these are the trends that stood out for me.

Whether it be pastel sherbert colors or a pow tangerine that slaps you in the face, orange is a strong color for the spring and summer of 2015.

I loved the dress in photo 1, where orange washes into a cascade of color down the body ending in a deep indigo. It’s the beach on a dress.

2. This bag was the first thing I noticed in the Kensie booth at Accessories the Show (I had gone to see my friend Sherri Hammond of Vinrella umbrellas). The color is so saturated and the shape is fantastic. A pure lady bag.

3. Rompers are also on offer for ss2015, in white and orange. The great detail? The overskirt which gives you the best of both worlds. It’s a mini with shorts. I can see these under a light chambray shirt with a bandanna for the hair and a great pair of leather sandals.

Summer Tops:

Word for summer- is light and floaty. The top in photo 1 is lovely with a sheer frill that gives you a crop effect without showing your belly button. Number 2 is a great retro style blouse (so 50s) that I can see with a pair of dark wash jeans and ballet flats, or sexed up with a pencil skirt ballerina bun and red lips. The last blouse is another floaty, silky tank, but the faux torn lace gives it a charmingly punky edge.

Which, brings us to the next trend from Kensie…

Lace, lace, lace- it’s in for the Summer and you might want to spring for at least one piece. There are many different iterations, so no matter what your style there’s something to fit your aesthetic.

The lace baseball jacket is an instant classic, but take notice of the burnout tee underneath it which is trimmed in lace. While photo number 1 is a black and white colorway, you can also see the lace embellishment in fiery chartreuse and royal blue, perfect with a crisp white skirt or jeans. The blue continues with  the same jacket paired with athletic shorts with a lace overlay.

Also on offer are lace embellished fit and flare dresses( I saw white and royal blue/black combinations), lace blouses (lined of course) and casual beach dresses with attached lace. You can combine these pieces with patterned jackets like the one in photo number 1. Take the blouses from photo number 2 with the long straight skirt with zipper detail that goes with the jacket.

 Dresses: kensie5

Kensie has some amazingly pretty dresses- and for spring and summer? Those are lifesavers. The one on the table is the sweetest white summer frock with a sort of leaf-like applique that would look amazing wit the heart-shaped red purse in photo 2. And I am so in love with the dress in photo 3. A stark black and white pattern that turns into a colorful garden at the hem of the skirt. Try that with the studded white bag or the blue backpack.

I like these bags because the studding isn’t the now typical punk spikes. You still reference that, but in a softer (more subway safe way). I kind of wish Valentino Garavani would stop doing it, then maybe we could all move on from that.

Bags, bags, bags:

kensie7 Kensie is not playing when it comes to this coming season’s bags. Cute little crossbodies, and knapsacks. And as you’ve seen throughout this post, they’re coming up with new ways to delight their audience. The black studded red heart-shaped bag is a definite fave, Vittoria couldn’t put it down.  And let’s not for get that punch orange doctor bag we talked about. They have a lot to offer and they’re not shy about showing it off.kensie6

These totebags are roomy as well as stylish. When you’re zipping from office to beach party (like Le Bain at the Standard for cityfolk) you need room for sandals, bathing suit, makeup bag, etc without looking frumpy.

Even if you can only get one, you’ll end up with something that you carry all summer and treasure all year.

In short- a really delightful collection suitable for women and girls 18-30 (and beyond, because age is nothing but a number). I’m definitely looking forward to seeing this hit the stores!

Next up: What they gave me at Kensie and how I’m styling it.

xoxo, Faith/Sassy Ethnic Bohemian
