It’s spring! The air is finally warm, the sun is shining, and you can’t hide under coats, scarves, and hats anymore. Before you start planning what tube top to shimmy into, and how many sundresses you’re gona snag- take care of your most major asset! Your skin needs to get acclimated and prepped for primetime…
I love to start with a cleansing mask. My favorite is Origins Clear Improvement, which I’ve been using since last November. Whenever I need a quick skin fix, I grab Clear Improvement. It helps clear up breakouts and even my skin tone.
I got this Glam Glow Youthmud exfoliating mask as a free sample from Sephora. As advertised, it tingles and feels like something is goid on once you apply it. I didn’t realize that it would be gritty and have plant matter in it. In spite of that, it leaves skin feeling moisturized, if a little greasy. I’d definitely try it again.
Make sure you have a good cleanser, no matter what the price point. I’m surrently using African Secret Black Soap. It was $1.59 at the super market and keeps my skin clear. I love it. I also picked up a bottle of Ole Henriksen’s African Red Tea Foaming Cleanser, free of sulfites and parabens. The most amazing cleanser I’ve tried this year was Shea Terra Organics Black Soap Deep Pore Facial Wash & Mask. Wet your face and then smooth this on. After a week your skin looks like a newborn baby’s.
Moisturizing is serious business. I use Plantscription Powerful Lifting Cream, which I got at an Origins event. The luxuriously thick cream is used morning and night to reduce the appearance of wrinkles. The Origins Drink Up Intensive Overnight Mask is another way to retain that youthful glow.
I got the Tarte Bright By Night Skincare Discovery Set for $10 in the fun bins near the register at Sephora. It contains a bottle of Maracuja oil, which I guess is the new Argon. You use an eyedropper to smooth it on before bed, and then tap the Maracuja C-Brighter Eye treatment on under your eyes.
For a real treat, try the Amore Pacific Moisture Bound Sleeping Recovery Mask. It smells heavenly, like perfume for your face. You smooth it on at least 5 minutes before bed, and let it go to work rebuilding the moisture in your skin. You wake up glowing. It’s $60, and worth every penny.
Get rid of grime and sweat by exfoliating with every shower. I love these cute loofah gloves from Jacks99World. They have every color!
Exfoliation is key when using self-tanners, something i just started doing. I’m using the St. Tropez Self Tan Bronzing Mousse (rub this on with the special applicator mitt), and St. Tropez Everyday Gradual Tannning Moisturizer. It gives your skin a warm glow, like a Brazilian carioca.
I use Vaseline on my elbows, which are unnaturally dry. I also like to keep it on hand for dry heels, or chapped lips. You should always have some on hand.
No matter your skin color, just exfoliate, moisturize, then apply the bronzing mousse, instant pop! The arm on the left is the treated one…
No matter what you do, take care of your skin. It’s the most important beauty secrets there is.
