There’s nothing like a good fashion invitation. No matter what it’s for, you still feel tha heady feeling of being chosen. No matter where it is- you’re on the list!
This time, I got invited to preview the Urban Zen Holiday Marketplace. The marketplace was all about sustainable and charitable giving. Exotic, handcrafted, original items from all over the world, each company chosen for their philanthropic footprint.
I will tell you now that Donna Karan is probably taller than you think she is. She has a perma tan and a perma smile. She pays attention to people and seems to genuinely care about what you say. She makes awesome pronouncements- like ‘I’m so over clothes! It’s all about scarves…’ and starts pulling lusciously colorful Sheila Johnson Collection scarves from a display and wraps one around her neck. I was in awe, but I was also like- “Can you adopt me?”
These are some of the pieces I saw:
Shelia Johnson Collection scarves- amazing photographs print on silk scarves, proceeeds help the Lady Salamander soccer team.
Caliber Collection is made from actual handguns, collected from the streets and turned into jewelery
This bag used to be a fire hose… reclamation for a more stylish world by Elvis & Kresse
J’adore these beautifully embroidered keychains by Haitian Artisan Pascale Theard. A true folk artist…
